I teach 2nd grade, and I have a little song that I do for

verbs. It goes like this:

Tune of "Bingo"

Here are some action words for you

And verbs are what we call them

V-E-R-B-S

V-E-R-B-S

V-E-R-B-S

And verbs are what we call them.

Here are some action words for you to act out as you sing them

M-A-RCH

M-A-RCH

M-A-RCH

And verbs are what we call them.

(You can substitute any word for "march", like *jump, twist,

etc. The kids stand and act them out.)

Some other things I've done:

Word sort- Give each student a list of words. Have them sort

them any way they want. Then, sort by nouns/verbs.

Charades-Write some verbs on little slips of paper and place

in a bag. Call a child up to draw one out. They have to act

it out and the class guesses what it is.
